In a ♦town almost defined by a Marine base, populated by hundreds of Latino soldiers and their families, this inherently racist decision [vote to fight California sanctuary city status] is an affront to many who proudly defend the Constitution and the words of Lady Liberty:

“Give me your tired, your poor huddled masses yearning to be FREE”.

It’s amazing that the Democratic legislature and Governor Brown allowed GOP councilman Chad Mayes to milk over six million dollars in state tax revenue to fund the hoax known as “Project Phoenix” for a town that just declared itself an anti-Sanctuary City.

With this vote, the town has solidified its well-earned reputation as intolerant and backwards and just plain dumb.

A lot of that $$ could be spent on really worthwhile things like a homeless shelter for women and children, a jitney service, a food bank, a free clinic-things that will directly benefit the residents.

And project Phoenix is supposedly going to make 29 Palms the next great tourist destination? It’ll take a lot more than cash to turn the worn-out ugliness and boring reality of downtown into the next “must visit” destination.

Roll into town and what greets your eyes?

Two gas stations, several realty offices, a used furniture outlet, a Marine barber shop, Tattoo parlors, an empty supermarket, a massage parlor and a doughnut shop open 12 hours a week. Yes, they’re getting a Starbucks — which is like putting Winchester Cathedral in Newark New Jersey.

Say goodbye to the B of A bank machines too.

29 Palms is run by a bunch of incompetent kooks that will squander that money and tie up the downtown for months with their crazed “plans” for “renewal”.

They want to build an “Entertainment Center” that will never compete with the local casino’s plans for the same thing.

And the downtown strip has zero shade on the sidewalks.

What tourist is going to want to walk around in 110 degree sun looking at the… er.. “shops”.  Don’t they realize that liberal Californians who despise [the Administration’s] border policies will flat-out boycott their burg once they realize what’s up?

I urge our Democratic “leaders” in Sacramento to rescind their lame six-million dollar give-away to these racist, incompetent and shady buffoons.

♦ Note: The city sends the message that all tourist are not welcome in Twentynine Palms. Tourist, stay out if you do not have federal papers documenting a valid visa, permanent residency card, or proof of naturalized citizenship. What an Ugly American message to send to the world. Many tourists come from the Europe countries. Many will remember their dark history lessons during times of xenophobia, elitism, bigotry, racism, and far worse. That is why it’s alleged that those tourists will be very cautious to avoid a backward and alleged racist cities like 29 Palms.  bh

Good for 29 Palms.. About time they took a stand.

What part of Illegal alien don’t you understand Boo Boo?

This the Oath of Citizenship made by every naturalized citizen:

“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America

As all naturalized citizens “Latinos” must give up their allegiance and Fidelity to their former country just like everyone else in the Immigration system. You do not break the law in getting here. You do not jump the border or swim the Rio Grande…. You follow the rules. You apply just like everyone else in the world does.

Boo Boo You need to grow up.

I thank Dan for not waterboarding me for taking the time to put this opinion story up. I thank Editor Kurt Schauppner for allowing this opinion to be published in the Desert Trail. The only thing that was edited out of Ms. Booboo’s opinion was a gratuitous political reference about the president, which didn’t fit into the format of this blog. The big picture is that free speech to redress local government is alive and well for anybody that chooses to use it.

You’d have to be smoking something if you think 29 Palms would be affected by a boycott larger than the IQ of a snowflake. The truth is weve seen more cities take a stand against the open border policies of those that prefer because of racial motives to let human trafficers, smugglers and drug lords abuse innocent people from south america trying to gain illegal access across our border. Ironically California boasting of it’s booming economy had to raise taxes. That’s not a government of the people by the people. It’s a government that has been occupied by extremist. Tell ya what boo boo, I’ll call out anyone that takes part in the modern equivalent of slave labor. BTW, if our economy is doing so well did it ever cross your mind that it’s all those 1%rs that are cashing in on the underpaid illegals. Thats not fair trade, it’s a scam and somebody’s been yanking the emotional chain of well meaning people that unwittingly create an unclass society that has a much higher crime rate than that of american populous.

I guess the Chamber of Commerce supports the city sending the message that all tourist are not welcome. I guess this isn’t going to help small businesses. I guess local small business owners who work hard may not all be in agreement. “Business is Business” but…
Religion and politics doesn’t mix when running a business. Money in the cash register is color blind. It doesn’t care who you are… it wants your business… it wants you to come back.

Would those old Republican men on the council be so Kafkaesque-like and self righteous if a billboard sign published the 5-0 council vote, not welcoming the immigrant underclass. .

How about them old Bernie Sanders Socialists? So very out of touch with the Inland Majority…. Sorry can’t transplant San Francisco misguided values to Fly Over Country. Once past the San Bernardino Mountains its the land of Constitutional Conservatism.

The One World Order is dying. The Open Borders gambit has lost its appeal to native peoples. The world is returning to long established tribal boundaries.

Quit watching CNN and reading the Los Angeles Times. Spread your intellectual wings get your news from balanced sources.

Socialism has never worked. Liberals always lose in the end. The liberal reign of Racist Politics is over.

Native Germans, Native Swedes, Native Hungarians, Native Poles, Native Austrians, Native Slovaks, Native Italians, Native Greeks, Native Romanians the list of “native peoples opposed to unrestricted illegal immigration is endless… The EU is in disarray because of mass waves of illegal immigration. What the hell did you think I meant?

One can never tell what dwells in the mind of Mr. Dan. Huh! I thought by natives you were referring to Mexican folks who were native to this area for a very long time, or native indians of this area’s history, and the ancient ones.

I don’t see the unpapered hiding under the beds, the closet or under the front porch. The council’s vote to be go all TOADY with their political party and jump into the sink hole of partisan politics with the party line has no place in city business. We don’t see ICE or immigration enforcement around here. Yes enforce illegal laws, But don’t kick my US Constitution under the smelly garbage truck. I frown upon that un-American activity.

I am not concerned about the World Order in 29. The council had no business making the city known to the world as a bigoted city. The council cannot take care of city business. The city council is very akin to the World Order in the way the run the city with an iron fist. Never is there a public vote. They pander and please two few too often.

Fortunately or unfortunately for you, we live in a Republic not as you keep thinking a democracy…. You do have the ability to get that vote by circulating a referendum. Get enough signatures and you have a ballot measure. See how a measure for Sanctuary city support will work out for you….

Voting in November elections shall be by neighbor districts. This gives each candidate, hopefully some younger citizens, a voice and opportunity to canvas neighborhoods the good old fashion American way. The public spectacle at the council meeting was a display of xenophobic cheerleaders, coupled with a thick atmosphere of McCarthyism-style of hysteria. The council for the last 10 years have had their way, how has the city progressed?
