This Pioneer Town Mane Street Stampede Wild West Show shootout re-enactment is Saturday.

It’s a free show to spend quality time with the family this Thanksgiving weekend. Show begins at 2:30 p.m. This is the last show of the season. If you snooze, you’ll lose out until next year.

Free candy give-away for the kids, and adults with a sweet tooth.

The show’s reenactment of an old west shootout performed by the talented troupe simulating how the Old West may have been. Pioneer Town is history-based for early western films like the Cisco Kid, Annie Oakley, Roy Rogers, the adventures of Judge Roy Bean — and many more.

The show is designed to be light hearted and comic based.

What about those family pets, namely dogs? Well, as the show begins one of the cowboy will step up, like in Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town,” to warn showgoers that the when the gun fire (blanks) begin it may be unbearable and scary for dogs.

When I attended this show, my dog was at my side. I ignored the warning since my dog is not afraid of gunfire. She panicked, the like of which I have not seen since. Not only did she panic, but she is a big dog and dragged me all the way back to my vehicle.

What’s problem if she was unafraid of gunfire? Here is the interesting thing: When the dog watched people in the street fall to the ground pretending to be dead from the shots, that is what stampeded her. Dogs are very intuitive and smart.

Here is the Facebage page of the show where a maybe a hundred photo can be viewed, and more information on the show can be found.

Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Have fun.
