Making Changes in La Quinta

La Quinta—- This is our opportunity to make change in our City by getting Paula Maietta elected as Mayor and Joe Johnson on the City Council.  It takes real guts and fortitude for Paula to take on the established incumbent.  It is a tough uphill battle against special interests and their wallets.  For Joe, he is fighting against an insider group who pushes their own candidates who will vote in tandem with them in favor of the special interests, such as the Chandi Group, who will most certainly bring their project back before the Council for a rubber stamping by those persons they have selected to be on the council after the election.
I predict that the SilverRock developers will hold us in hostage with a half finished project that we will be stuck financing in some way to get completed…that is if it ever gets started.  They are holding our property in their land bank waiting for the numbers to improve, all the while we are stuck with the mortgage and other related costs, which are also robbing our taxing agencies – schools and stormwater/flood districts, of their fair share of property taxes from that area…and the City will give the developers extension after extension on their $1 parcel purchase.  Why?  why do you think?…who benefits from these deals?…certainly not the taxpaying residents.
The CV Link will be another boondoggle that we will be forced to finance, thanks to Linda Evans vote for the project and thanks to her vote on CVAG to not allow the residents to participate in the expenditure of our tax dollars, once again.
So does that explain where they want to put the sales tax increase money?  If you are against any of these things or the way we are excluded from and ignored in the decision making, how can you vote for these incumbents?
Are these the people you want running your City?  Evans who is in the pocket of any fat wallet who will give her money?  Franklin who is asleep at her seat most of the time until elections when she has to go out and tell the voters stories so she can get back into her cozy seat again…campaigning with Chandi money?   Llort with no life experiences who moves into our City as a shill for special interests, whose support comes from those who know they can manipulate her easily due to her youth – and Chandi is endorsing her?   Fitzpatrick who sits on the Planning Commission which supported the Chandi project?   See where this is going?
Joe Johnson is the only Council candidate who is a real representative of the people.  He is not a politician, he is a resident, a taxpayer, a citizen of our community who cares how our money is being spent and will fulfill his fiduciary responsibilities to the public with honor and honesty.
Paula Maietta is a proven successful business person who can revive our City economics and is not beholden to any special interests.  She will run this City with the money we already have coming in and will bring in an Economic Development Director with the savvy to help her make our business climate exciting and prosperous again…especially for the small businesses.
Let’s do everything we can in these days before November 8 to get Paula and Joe elected!  It is an uphill battle, but it can be done if we put some extra energy behind them.  We know the exponential story…you tell one person they tell one person, etc.  If you tell 5 people and they tell 5 people the numbers are even greater.  Let’s see what happens.  These are two courageous individuals taking on the oligarchy at City Hall who deserve our support.
