La Contenta Middle School Gets Bomb Threat

INCIDENT: Bomb Threat Made to School
LOCATION: 7050 LA Contenta Road, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): unknown


SUMMARY: On August 24, 2017, at about 10:09 am, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to La Contenta Middle School in response to a report of a bomb threat. School officials reported they received a call from an unknown person who claimed there was a bomb at the school. The school principal, Mr. Gruwell, along with school staff safely evacuated the students and placed the school on lock down, to ensure their safety. Deputies arrived to assist with the evacuation of students and lock down. Deputies conducted a systematic search of the campus and found no suspicious devices. Approximately one hour later, the students and staff were allowed to return to their classrooms.

The investigati on into the identity of the person who placed the phone call is under investigation.
