Incumbents Mintz and Wright challenged in their district by Denise Cullum and Cora Heiser, respectively
http://new.vote29.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/elections.pngTWENTYNINE PALMS: Thus far, incumbents Dan Mintz (District 3) is challenged by local citizen Denise Cullum. Incumbent McArthur Wright is challenged by former one-term city council member Cora Heiser. Pastor Wright has got to work his district and his religious base vigorously if has a clear view of who he is facing. Denise Cullum has served the local & military community of Twentynine Palms. Cullum is facing a difficult candidate.
29 Palms council candidates: 6 pm Thursday, Aug. 9, is deadline to file papers to become candidates in the November election.
Note: Heiser was one of the most popular counclmembers to come along for a long while. Personal matters resulted in her not seeking a second term. Heiser is a Board Member of the 29 Palms Chamber of Commerce.
Note: Mintz, a California licensed local alcoholic beverage server, owns a popular bar and local family entertainment center. Mintz has family, friends, political cronies, bar patrons, family entertainment patrons. And Mintz has decades of residency. A very uphill battle (but winnable). Mintz is also a stockholder in the Morongo Basin Broadcasting Corp., z107.7. No doubt the local radio station news director-owner will include crony Mintz in their pick of candidate. Mintz is seeking a third consecutive term on the council.
Good luck to all candidates, but for incumbents.
