DHS Car Thief holds up in Occupied Yucca Valley Home

INCIDENT: Possession of a Stolen Vehicle/ Burglary

LOCATION: Cholla Avenue/ Sunland Drive, Yucca Valley

SUSPECT(S): Gabriel Gallegos, 22-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs



On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at approximately 3:25 p.m. Deputy Shaunna Ables, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Morongo Basin Station, observed a stolen black Honda Civic driving north on Cholla Avenue, near Sunland Drive in Yucca Valley. Ables attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver, Gabriel Gallegos, fled the vehicle on foot. Gallegos ran into a residence, in the 7000 block of Tamarisk Avenue. The owner of the residence did not know Gallegos or give him permission to enter the residence.

Gallegos was arrested and booked, into the Morongo Basin Jail, for possession of a stolen vehicle and burglary.
