7.1 Earthquake strikes near Ridgecrest again!

Confirmed USGS 6.9 USGS 7.1 quake.  Same fault line, same general area. Clusters of quakes taking place in the area. The quake swayed homesteads in unincorporated Twentynine Palms. This quake was felt in Nevada, Morongo Basin and Mexico.  In the past 10 days, there have been 117 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth.

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake was reported Friday evening at 8:16 p.m. Pacific time four miles from Ridgecrest, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred 31 miles from California City, 62 miles from Barstow, and 64 miles from Rosamond, Calif.

Ridgecrest is a city in Kern County, California, United States, along U.S. Route 395 in the Indian Wells Valley in northeastern Kern County, adjacent to the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. It was incorporated as a city in 1963. The population was 27,616 at the 2010 census, up from 24,927 at the 2000 census. Wikipedia
